I AM MALALA – conclusion

How did she introduce the values, roles, ideas of patriarchy and leadership that occur in her society? What conclusions can you draw from this? This should be 300 words in length.

She showed the disadvantage of being a girl in her society, the swat valley. When she was born, people in her village commiserated and nobody congratulated. Born of a girl gets treated like a curse. People in that society don’t value female while rifles are fired in celebration of a son. The article has brought up that their role in life is simply preparing food and giving birth to children. Malala’s description of her father shows the complexity of people in her swat valley. When she was born, her father tried to break the tradition, asking his friends to throw dried fruits, sweets and coins into his daughter’s cradle, something they usually do for sons. Also, despite of father, who was a religious scholar and village cleric, said it is a bad name, he gave his daughter a name Malala, which is influenced by Malalai of Maiwand, the greatest heroine of Afghanistan. As we could see, the tradition of ideas of patriarchy is deeply constructed within the people in Malala’s society.
